For immediate release: August 12, 2025
Vancouver, B.C. – Public Disco will close out its 2025 Summer Block Parties, presented by 2 Hoots Hard Iced Tea, with a free, open-air celebration on Saturday, September 6 at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square. This final event of the season marks Public Disco’s return to one of Downtown Vancouver’s most iconic gathering spaces, featuring an all-vinyl DJ lineup, a vintage market, record sale, pop-up bars, food trucks, and a kids zone.
“We’re closing out our 2025 season with a celebration that embodies the heart of Public Disco—transforming public space through music and fostering moments of connection across communities,” says Nickolas Collinet, Executive Director of Public Disco Society. “It’s been inspiring to witness how the community responds to free, inclusive events that activate civic spaces and strengthen our social fabric. We’re deeply grateful to the artists, collaborators, and attendees who have supported us throughout our most ambitious summer to date.”
The Downtown Block Party will showcase an all-vinyl selection of electronic music, spanning house, disco, and groovy techno, curated by DJ Dairy Free. Local DJs DANE, Kozue, Cool Underground Music, Andrè Rose, and Beiti will perform on the Fizz Mobile Stage. Attendees can also explore a vintage market curated with Granville Flea and browse a pop-up record fair featuring local record shops, collectors, and labels.
“Downtown Vancouver is at its best when our public spaces are alive with music, culture, and community,” says Jane Talbot, President & CEO of Downtown Van. “Events like the Public Disco Downtown Block Party activate our city’s heart, drawing people together to celebrate local talent, support small businesses, and enjoy the vibrancy that makes our downtown a place for everyone.”
The event will be fully licensed with pop-up bars and food trucks, including the Main Bar presented by 2 Hoots Hard Iced Tea & 604Now, and the Dinosour Bar by Phillips Brewing, serving fan favourites and non-alcoholic options from their iOTA line. Food trucks include Crema Ice Cream, Indish Food Truck, Mom’s Grilled Cheese, Nami Vietnamese Cuisine, TacoTigre, Teriyaki Boys, and West Coast Bannock. Families can enjoy the dedicated Kids Zone hosted by Pattern Nation, featuring a sparkle station and crafts.
The plaza is accessible, located on flat concrete, and offers wheelchair-accessible washrooms, picnic tables, quiet areas, and open spaces to relax.
