Frequently Asked Questions

  • We get a lot of interest from artists — the best way to be considered is to fill out the DJ & Artist Application Form on our website. Please don’t email or DM us — we’re a small team and can’t respond to every message.

Most of our events are curated by community partners who represent different corners of the local scene. We share applications with them, but ultimately, they build the lineups to reflect their vision and community.

We aim to be a gateway into the underground for new audiences, and while slots are limited and highly competitive, we do our best to feature emerging artists when we can.

  • Our events showcase a diverse range of music, from disco and funk to house and techno. We collaborate with community curators to highlight both local and international artists. Free events typically feature more accessible, easy-listening music, while ticketed events delve into deeper, more underground sounds.

  • Our free events are all-ages and family-friendly. The ticketed events are strictly 19+; attendees must present two pieces of government-issued ID for entry. Families and those with pets may find the first few hours of the free events more comfortable, as crowds are typically smaller.

  • Our 2025 Summer Series includes two free, all-ages block parties and two 19+ ticketed events. The free events are on June 7-8 (Granville Island) and September 7 (Downtown Vancouver). The ticketed events, featuring international headliners, are on July 19 and August 2. Tickets are required for the 19+ events.

  • Yes — and we take it seriously. All attendees, artists, and staff are expected to uphold our Code of Conduct, which is rooted in care, consent, and creating a safer space for everyone. If someone’s behaviour is making you uncomfortable, we have on-site staff and harm reduction teams available to help.

Read the full policy at publicdisco.ca/code-of-conduct.

  • Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited at all events. While outside snacks are allowed at free events, we encourage attendees to enjoy the diverse food options available on-site, including vegetarian and vegan choices. At ticketed events, no outside food or beverages are permitted. Non-alcoholic beverages, including mocktails and sparkling water, will be available for purchase at all events.

  • Re-entry is permitted at free events, subject to capacity. If the event reaches capacity, you may need to wait in line upon return. At ticketed events, re-entry is not allowed; once you leave, re-entry will not be permitted. This policy helps us maintain a safe and controlled environment.
