Public Disco events are for people of all walks of life to to come together and enjoy dancing side by side.

Honour peoples' right to dance without unwanted advances. Always check if it's cool to dance closer and take a step back if someone says no.

We have zero tolerance for violence, racism, transphobia, sexism or other discriminatory language or actions. Those acting in breach of this will be asked to leave.

If you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe, seek out a harm reduction buddy or staff member for assistance. Summer Series events have Good Night Out staff with first aid and a variety of harm reduction supplies.

 FAQ

  • Public Disco events offers a variety of music ranging from disco and funk to house. We collaborate with curators from the community to highlight artists from various corners of the local and international music scene. You can anticipate a vibe that's fun, uplifting, and inclusive, fitting for both music heads and those just discovering the local dance music scene.

    Free events tend to feature music that’s more easy listening for a wider audience while ticketed events dive a bit deeper into eclectic corners of dance music.

  • Our Sumer Series consist of two all ages friendly block parties (June 8 & September 7) as well as two 19+ events (July 20 & August 3). The best time for families is the first 4 hours of our all ages events while crowds are smaller.

  • Our opening Granville Island Block Party on June 8 and our series closing Downtown Block party on September 7 are free to attend. However, our two paid events are on July 20th and August 3rd. Tickets are required for these events as they feature international headlining artists.

  • As per our liquor permits, outside liquor is not prohibited on site. Additionally, bar sales are important part of funding these public events. There will be bag checks to enforce this policy at check-in.

    While outside snacks are allowed, we will have food vendors on site at each event with a variety of options, including vegan choices to cater to different dietary preferences.

  • For free events, the answer is yes. Should we reach capacity however you may need to wait in line upon return.

    At our ticketed events there will be no ins and outs allowed. Once you leave, re-entry will not be permitted, so make sure to plan accordingly. This ensures that we can control event capacity and maintain a safe number of people on site throughout the day.

  • Yes, portable restroom facilities will be available at the event for your convenience, including a wheelchair accessible unit.

  • For free events, we won't be enforcing a pet policy, but we request that you use your discretion regarding whether it's appropriate and comfortable for your pet to attend. Similar to children, the first 4 hours are generally better suited for pets, as it tends to be less crowded.

    For paid events, to ensure the safety and comfort of your pet, we kindly ask that you leave them at home. These parties will be busy with loud music, which may not be suitable for pets.

  • Yes there will be various lower stimulation places to sit and relax throughout the site with tables and chairs. For accessible seating requests please email nick@publicdisco.ca
